Hospital Coordination Center Development
The NVHA has operated a Regional Hospital Coordination Center (RHCC) since 2004. The RHCC is tasked with providing assistance and support to the NVHA and our partners by executing its 5 core response objectives, which are:
1. Facilitating communications and information sharing between the NVHA hospitals and other relevant response partners at the local, regional and state level (i.e., law enforcement, Fire/EMS, Public Health, Emergency Management and others).
2. Coordinating with NoVA Fire/EMS agencies for the management and distribution of patients from a mass casualty incident to receiving hospitals.
3. Promoting coordinated and consistent strategies and tactics across the responding NVHA hospitals.
4. Facilitating resource support to the NVHA members, to include mutual aid/cooperative assistance, deployment of regional stockpiles, governmental assistance, and volunteers/donations.
5. Facilitating the integration of the response efforts of NVHA members with those of appropriate and relevant response partners at the local, regional and state level (i.e., law enforcement, Fire/EMS, Public Health, Emergency Management and others).
Since 2004 the RHCC has been active for hundreds of real life incidents. Regional coordination centers are not the same as hospital command centers. The NVHA experience in developing Hospital Coordination Center plans, polices, procedures, communications capabilities and more can help you create a center than meets the needs and expectations of your coalition partners.
